We are currently partnering with a highly respected manufacturing client in New Albany, IN. to assist them in the hiring of two skilled Controls Engineers for full-time, direct hire positions. These roles go beyond traditional PLC programming and will play a critical part in developing advanced automation and control systems for continuous cable manufacturing. Summary :
The Controls Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of control system solutions for automated manufacturing equipment. This includes both new system development and upgrades to existing processes used in continuous cable manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities :
Design and implement reliable and standardized control system platformsCollaborate with process and manufacturing engineering to define system functional requirementsSpecify components such as motors, drives, sensors, actuators, and motion controllersDevelop and revise electrical schematicsProgram PLCs, HMI / SCADA systems, motion controllers, and servo drivesStart up and debug control systems for new and upgraded equipmentProvide project management support for both new builds and upgradesSupport and troubleshoot production machines and control systemsTune motion systems, PID loops, and temperature control systemsDevelop standardization strategies for control system design and softwareUpdate existing PLC and HMI programs to support equipment enhancementsQualifications :
Minimum 5 years of experience in controls engineering within a manufacturing settingHands-on experience with motion systems, servo and stepper motors, temperature control, and sensorsStrong skills in motion controller and operator interface programming (Ignition and / or Red Lion preferred)Proficient in PLC programming using IEC 61131-3 languagesFamiliarity with software development environments and industrial networking protocols (MODBUS TCP, EtherNet / IP, EtherCAT)Capable of reading and creating electrical schematicsUnderstanding of UL508A, NFPA 79, NEMA, and machine safety standardsAbility to manage resources and timelines for project executionStrong verbal and written technical communication skillsEducation :
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline
