Title : CVOR Surgical Technologist (CST)
Location : Columbus, OH
Duration : 13 weeks
Shift : Day shift – combination of 2×8s and 2×12s (6 : 30 AM–3 : 00 PM and 10 : 30 AM–11 : 00 PM) with call; flexibility required
Job Responsibilities & Requirements :
Perform scrub duties for complex cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, and general OR procedures.
Support CVOR cases including CABG, EVAR, TEVAR, valve replacements, VAD, and other high-acuity surgeries.
Ensure proper aseptic technique, instrumentation handling, and equipment documentation.
Assist with cardiovascular / thoracic instrumentation and reprocessing.
Respond to emergency and trauma situations in a Level I environment.
Work in a variety of surgical areas (CVOR, general OR, trauma, thoracic).
Participate in call coverage as required.
Required Experience & Skills :
Minimum 5 years CST experience (hard requirement).
At least 2 years dedicated cardiac and vascular experience.
1 year CVOR experience.
1 year experience in a Level I Trauma facility.
Scrub experience required.
Experience with cardiovascular / thoracic instrument reprocessing.
Proficiency in :
CVOR procedures (CABG, EVAR, TEVAR, valve surgeries, etc.)
Vascular procedures (AAA repair, bypass grafts, fistula repair, carotid procedures)
General surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, thyroidectomy, Whipple)
Thoracic (lung resections, VATS, thoracotomy)
Plastics (abdominoplasty, breast augmentation, flap procedures)
Certifications : BLS required
CST credential required (from an accredited program)
Preferred Skills (Not Required) : \nAdvanced vascular and plastics procedures\nCardiothoracic robotic surgery experience\nAdditional transplant surgery exposure (kidney, liver, heart, lung)\n\nStrong knowledge of : \nAseptic technique\nIsolation precautions\nRadiation and sharps safety\nUniversal protocol / time-out procedures\nSpecimen handling / labeling\nEquipment documentation\n\nEquipment & Technical Skills : \nCase cart management\nCare of scopes and fiber optic equipment\nCell saver\nCrash cart\nVarious drills and electrosurgical equipment\nHigh-level disinfectant handling\nFamiliarity with robotics (preferred for cardiothoracic robotic procedures)
