We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Commercial Platform Engineering organization in our O'Fallon, Missouri location. This is a hybrid position requiring three days on-site per week. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for development, deployment support, recruiting & mentoring the team, owning the delivery of user stories, and performing code reviews. Role Responsibilities :

• Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality backend software solutions.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Optimize database queries and schemas for performance and scalability.
• Apply best practices in automated testing, CI / CD, and monitoring.
• Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance and code reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Architects, Product Owners, and Designers.
• Ensure adherence to Mastercard Engineering Principles and security standards.
• Contribute to the Software Engineering Guild by sharing knowledge and best practices. All About You :
• Strong knowledge of Java technologies (Core Java, Spring Integration, Spring Boot, Hibernate, REST / SOAP web services).
• Strong Oracle Database and SQL skills.
• Hands-on experience with development tools such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, and the Atlassian suite.
• Experience in designing solutions for simplicity, scalability, and future agility.
• Experience in Test-Driven Development (TDD) / Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
• Strong knowledge of automated build and deployment, continuous integration, and CI / CD Pipelines.
• Familiar with secure coding standards such as OWASP, CWE, and SEI CERT.
• Comfortable working in Agile / Scrum environments, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and capacity measurement.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor and guide team members.
• Capable of translating user stories into scalable, maintainable backend solutions.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently in fast-paced environments.
• Experience with Junit, Mockito, and Spring Test.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. O'Fallon, Missouri : $115,000 - $184,000 USD
