Job Summary : Globalcom Technologies, a division of Westphal & Co, is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Estimator to join our Preconstruction team. The Estimator will be responsible for the quantitative analysis (takeoff), summarization, and proposal / bid preparation of prospective projects. This position reports directly to Division Manager and plays a crucial role in delivering accurate, competitive bids that contribute to the overall success and growth of the company. Our applications and resume submissions are carefully reviewed and vetted by a real person, without the use of AI or automated technology. Each submission receives personalized attention to ensure a thorough and thoughtful evaluation. Key Responsibilities : Estimating & Cost Control : Perform complete and accurate takeoffs of plans, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner. Have a thorough understanding of industry standards, materials, and the construction process Utilize the company’s estimating software to prepare and refine project estimates. Propose value engineering suggestions for each project to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Refine estimates and proposals prior to bid submittal to ensure accuracy and competitiveness. Understand the project’s design, risks, competition, key players, and other factors critical to bid preparation. Analyze and understand bidding procedures and identify strategic opportunities that could influence the bid process. Qualifications & Experience : Minimum of two years of estimating experience, preferably in the Low Voltage field. BICSI knowledge recommended, but not required. Engineering degree or relevant experience is preferred. Experience using estimating software and tools to create detailed proposals / bids. In-depth knowledge of industry standards and procedures Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong written communication skills and professional business etiquette. Ability to analyze complex problems, devise solutions, and make independent decisions. Strong ambition to achieve personal and professional goals. Demonstrates high ethical standards, integrity, and honesty in all interactions. Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and collaborative team mindset. Excellent listening skills, assertiveness, and confidence when representing company interests.
