Technical Writer

Job Description

A client in the New York City area is seeking a Remote Technical Writer to join their team and collaborate with Algorithmic Quantitative Analysts (Algo Quants) to document their system. The role can be remote, but there will be periods when they are needed in the office, so they need to be flexible and be local to NYC.

This role is unique as the Algo Quants will be doing the bulk of the writing. The Technical Writer will ensure that the documentation is comprehensive, readable, and logical. Additionally, this person will lead the team in setting timelines, ensuring deadlines are met, and maintaining steady progress. Polished communication skills are essential, as the role involves interacting with various departments and seniority levels across the organization.

Responsibilities :

• Documentation Development : Collaborate with Algo Quants to gather information and develop clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation of trading systems.
• Regulatory Compliance : Ensure all documentation adheres to industry standards and meets the requirements set forth by European regulators.
• Technical Writing : Produce user manuals, system specifications, process documentation, and other technical materials as needed.
• Language Support : Work closely with team members who do not have English as their first language to ensure documentation is readable and meets professional standards. Provide guidance on language use and clarity.
• Stakeholder Engagement : Foster a collaborative environment with Algo Quants to understand system functionality and gather insights for documentation.
• Review and Revision : Regularly review and update documentation to reflect changes in systems, processes, and regulatory requirements. Provide constructive feedback to improve written communication.
• Quality Assurance : Implement best practices in documentation to ensure accuracy, clarity, and usability.
• Collaboration : Navigate the unique dynamics of a tight-knit team, addressing any communication challenges with sensitivity and understanding.
