Assistant Principal - High School (2025-2026) JOB STATUS : UNTIL FILLED POSTING DATE : 03 / 14 / 2025 POSTING NUMBER : 00006960 LOCATION : District Wide POSITION TITLE : Assistant Principal - High School (2025-2026) JOB DESCRIPTION : PRIMARY PURPOSE : Assist the school principal in the overall administration of the instructional program and operations at the campus level. Coordinate assigned activities and services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES : Instructional Management : Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs. Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers to pilot such efforts when appropriate. Provide appropriate time, resources, and material to support staff in accomplishing educational goals. Facilitate the use of technology in the teaching / learning process School / Organizational Climate : Promote a positive, caring climate for learning. Deal sensitively and fairly with person from diverse cultural backgrounds. Employ effective interpersonal skills. School / Organizational Improvement : Participate in collaborative processes to develop campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members. Assist principal in developing, maintaining, and using appropriate information systems and records necessary for attainment for campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators. Assess and respond to needs related to job responsibilities. Personnel Management : Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conference with staff; serve as an appraiser in the PDAS. Assist principal in interviewing, selecting, and orientation of new staff. Management of Administrative Functions : Serve as principal in the absence of the regular principal. Assist in the administration for the daily organization of the school, including class scheduling, teacher assignments and extracurricular activities. Supervise the reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with the attendance supervisor on investigative follow-up actions. Work with department heads and faculty in compiling annual budget requests based upon documented program needs. Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; conduct inventories; maintain records; and verify receipts for such materials. Coordinate the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities. Assume responsibility for coordination of transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support service. Implement policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board. Student Management : Coordinate and provide adequate supervision of students during non-instructional periods. Provide input to develop a student management system that results in positive student behavior. Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable. Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers concerning school and student issues. Present the students a positive role model that supports the mission of the school district. Professional Growth & Development : Take the initiative to develop professional skills appropriate to job assignment. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. School / Community Relations : Articulate the district's mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission statement. Demonstrate awareness of district / community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Shares supervisory responsibility for professional staff with school principal. Supervises teachers, custodian, paraprofessionals and clerical personnel, and others, when assigned by principal. Shares supervisory responsibilities for extracurricular and co-curricular activities, and other duties, as assigned.
