Metal Fabricator, Brake and Shear Operator
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS :
- Minimum one year experience
- In-depth understanding of the parts of a press brake and how the machine works
- Ability to remain upright and perform repetitive movements throughout most of a work shift
- Arithmetic skills to perform measurements and calculate settings
- Ability to move heavy or large pieces of sheet metal from one place to another
- Observation skills to monitor the pressing process and inspect metal after pressing
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations for the manufacturing industry
- Familiarity with blueprints and the terminology used in technical specification sheets
- Forklift certification helpful but not required, training can be provided
- Be in good physical health, have manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude, and ability to load and unload material by hand from pallet to machine
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Study blueprints and specification sheets to understand technical requirementsSet a computer-controlled press brake to project specificationsUse forklift to load and unload material safely and without damage (if certified)Ensure proper positioning and alignment of metal inside the press brakeCalculate material stretch out, shear material, and cut amount needed for partMonitor the pressing processMeasure and inspect the finished sheet metal to ensure it matches specificationsTroubleshoot and address problems that arise during the pressing processPalletize, wrap, and label material for shipmentChange tooling, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on the press brakeAssist in inventory control, maintain, handle, and move physical inventory within the warehouseComply with all health and safety standards and proceduresAssist with additional tasks including cleaning, organization, trash collection, etc.Excellent attendanceWages to be discussed during the interview. This is a full-time position. Employees and their qualified dependents are eligible for benefits after 60 days of employment.
