Metal Fabricator, Brake and Shear Operator

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Minimum one year experience
  • In-depth understanding of the parts of a press brake and how the machine works
  • Ability to remain upright and perform repetitive movements throughout most of a work shift
  • Arithmetic skills to perform measurements and calculate settings
  • Ability to move heavy or large pieces of sheet metal from one place to another
  • Observation skills to monitor the pressing process and inspect metal after pressing
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations for the manufacturing industry
  • Familiarity with blueprints and the terminology used in technical specification sheets
  • Forklift certification helpful but not required, training can be provided
  • Be in good physical health, have manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude, and ability to load and unload material by hand from pallet to machine
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Study blueprints and specification sheets to understand technical requirements
  • Set a computer-controlled press brake to project specifications
  • Use forklift to load and unload material safely and without damage (if certified)
  • Ensure proper positioning and alignment of metal inside the press brake
  • Calculate material stretch out, shear material, and cut amount needed for part
  • Monitor the pressing process
  • Measure and inspect the finished sheet metal to ensure it matches specifications
  • Troubleshoot and address problems that arise during the pressing process
  • Palletize, wrap, and label material for shipment
  • Change tooling, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on the press brake
  • Assist in inventory control, maintain, handle, and move physical inventory within the warehouse
  • Comply with all health and safety standards and procedures
  • Assist with additional tasks including cleaning, organization, trash collection, etc.
  • Excellent attendance

    • Wages to be discussed during the interview. This is a full-time position. Employees and their qualified dependents are eligible for benefits after 60 days of employment.
