About The Position

Must-Have : EKG knowledge, IV cardiac medication administration, experience with peritoneal dialysis, chronic vents, chest tubes, epidural catheters, PCA pumps, transvenous pacing, and arterial or venous sheath pulling / care

Description :

The role involves caring for acute patients undergoing cardiovascular and surgical services.

The unit typically accommodates patients post-catheterization or following open-heart surgery.

Nurses will manage patients displaying symptoms of STEMI and NSTEMI, as well as chronic ventilation needs.

It includes care for patients experiencing alcohol withdrawal, suicidal ideation, or those requiring new BiPAP or CPAP therapy.

Experience in handling thoracotomies and renal disease is essential.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 RN to 3-4 progressive care patients, depending on acuity.

Patient care equipment includes cardiac monitors, vital signs monitors, and infusion pumps among others.

Nurses are expected to float to the ICU as needed, with required floating to medical-surgical / telemetry units.

Dress code is navy scrubs with hair colors that are business appropriate.

Position requires two weekend shifts per pay period.

This is a fast-paced unit dedicated to providing critical care.
