Join our amazing Operating Room team at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, the largest hospital in Wisconsin, known for innovative heart-care and a range of specialties. Here, you are a vital part of ensuring patient safety and exceptional care in high-pressure situations. Your dedication, attention to detail, and adaptability are invaluable to us.
Schedule / Hours : Full-time, evening shifts with options for 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, including on-call responsibilities primarily during overnight hours. Call demands vary based on staffing needs, generally requiring arrival within 30 minutes.
Major Responsibilities :
Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment, ensuring that all materials, supplies, and equipment are ready for procedures.Assist with surgical tasks including gowning, gloving, and passing instruments to the surgical team.Maintain operational room safety and efficiency, including equipment setup and cleanup.Function effectively as a second assistant when necessary and report any equipment issues.Transport patients and supplies as required.Ensure specialty carts are complete and in working order.Support with patient positioning and transportation, employing safe lifting techniques.Exhibit understanding of patient care appropriate to the age of individuals served.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 6 months unless otherwise determined by the department leader.Education Required :
Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology.Experience Required :
No prior experience necessary.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Familiarity with aseptic techniques for surgical procedures.Understanding of operating room equipment.Excellent communication and customer service skills.Basic computer proficiency.Commitment to annual educational requirements for certifications.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying up to 40 lbs, and pushing / pulling with 30 lbs of force.Must transfer patients and perform other physical duties using proper techniques.Exposure to various hazards, including mechanical, electrical, chemical, and bodily fluids, is expected.Must have functional eyesight and hearing and wear personal protective equipment.Frequent mobility required, including sitting, standing, walking, and bending throughout shifts.This job description reflects the general nature and level of work expected and does not encompass all responsibilities and duties that may arise.
