American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position caring for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients, requiring an active IN or compact RN license and ACLS / BCLS certification.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at a short-term acute care hospitalPatient population includes cardiac and thoracic surgery cases such as CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, and VATS, as well as flex acuity Med / Surg, progressive care, and oncology patientsMixed acuity unit with ICU (1 : 2) and occasional step-down ratios (up to 1 : 3-4)Care for patients post cardiac surgery with responsibilities including titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, management of arterial and central lines, and blood product administrationAll private rooms equipped with overhead lifts and telemetry monitoringCharting is completed in Cerner EMR; Cerner experience requiredNight shift schedule consists of four 12-hour shifts (19 : 00-07 : 30)Weekend work required every other weekendFloating within scope to meet hospital needs may be requiredNurses will interpret and manage cardiac rhythms, titrate critical drips, and care for complex post-surgical cardiac patientsMust be comfortable transitioning across ICU and progressive care patient assignmentsRequired to work at least two out of three major holidaysScrub colors are black bottoms and red topsFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyReturn applicants must have a 12-month gap from prior staff or PRN roles at the facilityFree parking is provided\n \n Requirements\n
Active IN or compact RN license in hand prior to considerationMinimum of 18 months of recent ICU or CVICU nursing experience requiredACLS and BCLS certifications required; NIHSS certification preferredMust be a graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited universityExperience in management of dysrhythmias, post-cardiac surgery care, arterial and central lines, and ventilator management requiredPreferred experience with intra-aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices (LVAD / RVAD / Impella), cardiac catheterization procedures, and ventilated patientsCerner EMR charting experience requiredPrevious charge nurse experience preferredNot open to local candidates for this positionPending licenses not accepted; all credentials must be current\n Benefits\n
