Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Parkersburg, WV 26101 (West Virginia nursing jobs)

Unit : Ortho-Neuro Med / Surg Unit (33 private rooms)

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Start : 11 / 21 / 2025 – End : 2 / 20 / 2026)

Shift : 12-hour nights (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 30 AM), rotating weekends and holidays

Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1820-$1950

Charting System : EPIC EMR

Dress Code : Royal blue scrubs

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia or compact state

BLS certification (AHA required)

Minimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg nursing experience

Experience with orthopedic patients and PCA pumps required

Proficiency with EPIC charting system

Ability to float to other Med / Surg units as needed

Unexpired driver’s license required upon submission

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from elective orthopedic and neuro surgeries, as well as general medical-surgical cases

Manage a patient load with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 6

Administer IV fluids and manage PCA pumps (no titratable drips)

Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including Patient Care Techs and Respiratory Therapists

Accurately document patient care and interventions using EPIC EMR

Participate in rotating weekend and holiday coverage

Float to other Med / Surg units as staffing needs arise

Comply with hospital policies and unit dress code
