Job description

Gillette Children's is searching for a Pediatric Hospitalist - Advanced Practice Provider to join our team! PA / NP 0.5 FTE covering Thursdays and Fridays with pediatric hospitalist team.

Purpose of Position :

The advanced practice provider (APRN, CNP or PA-C) provides clinical care to patients in a family-centered model with complex acute, critical and chronic health care conditions, advises patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, and / or provides skilled assistance in navigation of the health care system as appropriate to the developmental, cultural, emotional, and medical, surgical, or rehabilitative needs of the patient and their families.

Compensation :

The annual salary range for this opportunity is $55,827 to $83,740, with a median salary of $69,784 (adjusted for 0.5 FTE). Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity. Salary is just one component of the compensation package for employees. Core Responsibilities and Duties :

The APP role in Hospitalist – Inpatient Services encompasses the following components :

  • The advanced practice provider (APP) hospitalist is responsible for the care of infants, pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients in the acute hospital setting.
  • The APP participates in all aspects of care of the hospitalized patient including admission, discharge, daily rounding, and patient education. The APP performs these tasks in collaboration with the physician hospitalist to provide care to a wide range of hospitalized patients from acute illness and trauma to post-op surgical management and chronic complex patients.
  • The APP’s knowledge of caring for the chronic complex special needs patient along with the physician's wealth of medical knowledge creates a truly collaborative team.
  • The practitioner will collect and synthesize data from historical information, diagnostic tests, therapeutic interventions, and physical examination to determine a diagnosis and appropriate intervention along with ongoing assessments and adjustments to the plan of care.
  • The APP works closely with hospital sub-specialists, nursing, and residents, along with a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive treatment plan for patients and their families during their hospital stay.

Qualifications : Required

  • Professional advanced practice provider licensure as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant :
  • Nurse Practitioner :

    Current RN license and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license through the Minnesota Board of Nursing

  • Completion of a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program with a Master of Nursing Degree or a Doctorate of Nursing Practice
  • Current national certification from one of the following :
  • American Academy of Nurse Practitioners

  • American Nurses Credentialing Center
  • Pediatric Nursing Certification Board
  • Physician Assistant :
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program and certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

  • Licensure as a PA in Minnesota; certification and prescriptive authority
  • Current CPR- BLS for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association
  • Preferred

  • Current PALS, PEARS, and / or ACLS
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication, organizational and leadership skills. Ability to function autonomously as a provider.
  • Demonstrated competence in working with individuals with disabilities and their families.
