Job Description

Kid’s Ministry Director

Inspire, equip, and lead the next generation to take their next step in their relationship with Jesus.

Forest Hill Church’s mission is to help the next person take their next step in their relationship with Jesus Christ by joining in community. This role leads and executes Forest Hill’s mission and vision in Kid’s Ministry across nursery, preschool, elementary, and preteen environments at our Ballantyne campus. You'll help create spaces where kids encounter the love of Jesus in meaningful, age-appropriate ways—and where families feel supported and encouraged on their faith journey.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead with Prayer : Prioritize prayer over every part of the ministry—kids, families, volunteers, and the greater church—believing that true transformation starts with God.
  • Own the Vision : Provide leadership and oversight for all Kid’s Ministry environments, including Large and Small Groups. Bring energy, excellence, and gospel-centered purpose to every space.
  • Be Present : Spend 25% of your time building intentional, life-giving relationships with kids, students, and families—both those connected to church and those who aren’t (yet).
  • Create Catalytic Experiences : Plan and lead engaging, high-energy weekly environments as well as impactful quarterly and annual events (like summer camps and family experiences) that help kids fall in love with Jesus.
  • Tailor the Approach : Work closely with the Campus Pastor to ensure your ministry environments reflect the needs and personality of your campus while aligning with church-wide goals.
  • Team Collaboration : Partner with your volunteers, the Kid’s Ministry staff across all campuses, and collaborate with production and worship to deliver immersive, Jesus-centered experiences.
  • Develop People : Recruit, equip, and support your ministry volunteers and leadership coaches. Invest in their spiritual growth and leadership development, spending 25% of your time encouraging and celebrating them.
  • Lead Publicly : Serve as the primary communicator and visible leader for Kid’s Ministry.
  • Ensure Safety : Uphold and model all Child Protection Policies to provide a safe and welcoming space for every child.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

This job has direct supervisory responsibilities over the Kid’s Ministry Associate.

Competences, Knowledge, Education, and Experience :

This role requires team leadership and large group management, relational intelligence and collaboration, upfront communication, and administrative skill

This role requires at least 3 years’ worth of Kid’s Ministry experience, or an equivalent experience (ex. teaching, YMCA, etc.)

This role requires a bachelor’s degree

This role requires experience leading a team, working with systems and processes, communicating to children, developing volunteers, and organizing large group and small group environments
