Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Campus Support

  • Model and coach effective strategies and behavioral resources in the classroom
  • Ongoing coaching of school-based PBIS teams and coordinate needed data (such as Benchmarks of Quality, Tiered Fidelity Inventory, or School-wide Evaluation Tool)
  • Attend campus PBIS / Culture team meetings to assist with implementation of the Student Ownership of Behavior Framework. Maintain ongoing contact and support as needed
  • Work with individual teachers, groups of teachers, and / or entire staff on issues such as crisis intervention, learning and collaboration issues, and factors that can affect development and implementation of interventions
  • Use ongoing assessments to maintain records of student progress
  • Prepare documentation (e.g. evaluations, observations, progress reports, contact with parents, teachers, and other personnel) for the purpose of providing written support, developing recommendations and / or conveying information
  • Design and interpret functional behavior analysis and multi-faceted behavior interventions. Use data to make informed decisions
  • Facilitate sustainability and expansion of PBIS, Restorative Discipline, and Trauma-Informed best practices district-wide
  • Design, develop, and implement training, coaching, and technical assistance activities to support a whole-school approach to a restorative school climate
  • Design and implement restorative interventions for students, including student circle groups
  • Participate in and provide trauma-informed consultation and support to the Student Support Team, Attendance Committee, or other data teams using tools such as an early warning system, etc.
  • Serve as a resource and consultant to support school teams in planning supports for students with behavioral challenges
  • Work cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior by providing professional development that targets research, strategies, and modeling of instructional practices to support teachers in their implementation of positive behavior support in their classrooms
  • Collect and monitor district database to track and analyze student behavioral data including office discipline referrals, suspensions, and PBIS / Culture Team implementation
  • Complete monthly reports to Coordinator on the ongoing successes and barriers to Behavior Framework implementation
  • Conduct campus and district data audits
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating action plans using a variety of data sources
  • Conduct administrative tasks such as data entry for reports, maintaining student files, writing progress notes and plan meetings and events

Organization

  • Prepare written reports and enter data into data base on an ongoing basis and completed by the end of each month
  • Provide data and program evaluation of the effectiveness of Positive Behavior Support / Restorative Discipline practices on discipline, attendance and academic achievement
  • Engage in professional development, keep abreast of best school practices and research in the field of Positive Behavior Supports, Restorative Practices, and Trauma-Informed Practices
  • Address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Qualifications

    Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field
  • Master's degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences, Counseling, Psychology, Social work or related field preferred
  • Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment preferred
  • Valid Texas Mid-Management or Principal Certification preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience providing behavioral strategies used to prevent or de-escalate behavior
  • Must be a self-starter and able to solve complex problems individually
  • Demonstrated knowledge of positive behavior supports and / or restorative practices
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally, in writing, and in presentations
  • Training in applied behavioral analysis or a combination of required Master’s degree and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.

    Additional Information

  • This position requires travel to various locations in the District in personal vehicle, occasional travel within and outside the state, as well as attendance at relevant board meetings.
