Job Summary

The Prescription Refill Coordinator will process all patient medication refill requests and prior authorizations.

Supervisory Responsibilities : None

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

• Answer calls regarding medication refills from patients and pharmacies
• Investigate the status of medication refills
• Educate patients regarding DAP Health medication refill policies and procedures
• Provide outstanding customer service to patients and pharmacy staff to ensure a positive image for DAP Health
• Ensure accuracy in documenting medication refills within patients medical record
• Check fax machines for patient medication refill requests faxed from pharmacies
• Retrieve phone messages from dedicated phones for medication refill requests
• Present refill requests to the provider in a timely manner
• Fax back signed medication refill requests to the identified pharmacies
• Scan faxed signed document into patients chart
• Document refill in patients chart
• Notify patient of denied refill requests
• Prepare prior authorizations for intake medications per doctors orders
• Prepare prior authorizations for newborns special formula per doctors orders
• As a Medical Assistants responsible for knowing their scope of practice
• Maintain compliance with DAP Healths policies and procedure and promotes a team environment
• Participate in conferences seminars and training sessions as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
