Paralegal - Public Records

Job Summary (List Format) :

• Position : Paralegal (Full-time, Onsite Contract)
• Location : Indianapolis, IN (State government agency Legal Office)
• Pay : $20.00 per hour
• Primary Responsibility : Assist Legal Counsel by processing and managing public records requests
• Key Duties :
• Learn and apply Indiana Code regarding Access to Public Records
• Research and analyze legal statutes and judicial decisions
• Timely processing of Public Records Requests
• Review / redact law enforcement recordings per Indiana Code
• Prepare legal documents for Legal Counsel review
• Assemble documentation for subpoenas and discovery
• Maintain organized files and responsive records
• Answer phone inquiries and communicate with public / internal staff
• Required Qualifications :
• High school diploma or GED (minimum)
• Paralegal certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of paralegal and related experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong confidentiality, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
• Experience Requirements :
• 2 years as a paralegal
• 2 years handling sensitive / confidential information
• 2 years using legal research platforms (LexisNexis, Westlaw)
• 2 years of basic computer skills
• Other Requirements :
• In-person interview required
• Work location is fully onsite (no remote work)
