The Director of Facilities Management is a leadership position reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Administration, that is responsible for the comprehensive planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, repair, and capital renewal of campus facilities and infrastructure in alignment with institutional processes and priorities at :
This position oversees all aspects of campus and facility planning, capital project program management, architectural and engineering consultation and contracting, the design and execution of construction and renovation projects and grounds management, to ensure the maintenance, renewal, and safe operation of buildings, utilities, roads, sidewalks, grounds and University transportation systems.
Lead the strategic planning process, including multi-year project prioritization, capital planning and improvement, budgeting, funding allocation, and condition assessment programs. Develop and implement strategic maintenance plans, consult on space inventory and allocation, and research and recommend relevant policies and strategies to address long-term facility projects, growth and program needs. Collaborate closely with faculty and staff leadership across the University to align facilities strategy and execution with SIUE's mission, vision, and priorities. Define team activities, assess staffing requirements, allocate resources, and evaluate team performance. Lead a group of professionals across facilities management, health and safety, operations, maintenance, and incident / emergency management to ensure efficient operation. Manage architecture and engineering contracts and provide oversight for the design and implementation of associated construction and renovation projects. Provide effective leadership and supervision of department staff and contractors, ensuring a physical environment that is safe, clean, sustainable, and conducive to the University's mission. Create and implement staffing, security, and emergency management plans, as well as related policies and procedures for all buildings, newly acquired facilities, and partnerships that arise. Partner and collaborate with SIUE leadership and local entities on Environmental Health and Safety, and Emergency Management.
