• Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, communications, or related field
• Experience with academic support programs focused on student success.
• Experience assisting with programs, events, trips, and workshops for students.
• Effective writing and speaking skills.
• Experience with computer software (Microsoft suite) and database management platforms.

Job Description :

This is a grant funded position. Continuation of this position is contingent upon grant funding.Reports to the Student Support Services Program Director (SSS) at Texas State University-San Marcos. The SSS Grant Specialist is a member of the SSS administrative team and promotes educational achievement retention, good standing, and graduation for program participants.Evening and weekend work may be required.

Job Duties :

Provide counseling / advising (e.g. academic, career, financial, personal) to students who meet program eligibility requirements.Determine student academic needs and develop individualized student success plans.Schedule monthly student meetings.Document student contact / progress.Assist with marketing, recruitment screening and selection activities.Advise the SSS Association / Peer PalsAssist with record keeping, program evaluation and ongoing program improvementAssist with trips and events for participants.
