This position is responsible for implementing training for professionals and a broad array of community groups on awareness, prevention, and reporting of child abuse. The Community Educator will deliver all aspects of the center's child abuse prevention / education programs for adults and children through the Independent School Districts and other community groups. This position actively pursues opportunities in the community for the agency to present child abuse prevention education and outreach. This position coordinates with community partners for grant implementation. With a primary focus of presenting to students within Denton, Wise and Jack County school districts, the expected work hours for this position will be aligned with a typical school day from 7 : 30 AM - 3 : 30 PM. This position may sometimes but not always consist of two evenings per month, in which work hours will vary for a week where evenings may apply.

Essential Functions

• Build relationships with a variety of corporate, civic, and professional organizations
• Partner with local universities to provide guest lecture opportunities
• Foster collaborative relationships with members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team for educational programming
• Evaluate the effectiveness of programming through appropriate quantitative and qualitative measures, meeting established outcomes and goals
• Must complete required training in Be Strong Families Parent Caf model
• Must complete required training in Trust Based Relational Intervention
• Plan, Organize, and Facilitate Parent Cafs
• Facilitate teacher demonstrations in TBRI activities for children and teens
• Maintain internal and external calendars for education trainings
• Serve as an agency speaker in the community
• Share a role in engaging the agency's corporate partners through coordination of community education opportunities
• Other duties as assigned

Travel

This position is based in the Lewisville, TX office. The candidate must travel to all counties served by the agency (Denton, Wise, and Jack Counties) since this position will be engaging with the community. This position frequently requires evening hours and occasional weekend work.

Education and Training

Bachelor's degree in education, family sciences, psychology, or a related field required.
