American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 26-week CVICU ICU night shift position requiring a current CA RN license and advanced cardiac care skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospitalNight shifts are 12 hours each, with typical scheduling every other weekendPatient population includes acute MI, CHF, PE, cardiomyopathy, complex post-cath lab patients, IABPs, Impella devices, post-cardiac surgery (CABG), AAA, vascular cases, thoracotomies, and pneumonectomiesTravel RNs typically do not care for fresh heart surgery patientsAverage cardiac surgery patient stay is 1-2 days; approximately 5 open-heart cases are performed weeklyUnit consists of 12 beds across 2 pods; overall hospital has 244 bedsNurse-to-patient ratios are CA state mandated at 1 : 1 or 1 : 2, based on acuity and censusFloating to other units within the same scope of practice may be requiredEpic EMR system used, with experience preferred but not requiredProvide advanced critical care nursing for complex cardiovascular and post-surgical patientsAdditional information on dress code will be provided on first day; any color scrubs allowed except jeansFirst time travelers may not be preferred; previous travel experience is preferredMust adhere to unit policies and state staffing ratiosWeekend and holiday coverage is required according to scheduling needsNot eligible for local rate if residing within a 50-mile radius\n \n Requirements\n
Active CA RN license required at time of considerationMinimum of 2 years ICU experience, preferably recent and in CVICU or related specialtyCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, and NIHSSCCRN certification preferredStrong experience with advanced cardiac and post-surgical critical care, including IABP and ImpellaTwo clinical references from leadership within most recent year of employment are requiredPrevious seven years of employment history with no unexplained gaps over 30 daysCurrent skills checklist completed within the past year\n Benefits\n
