Infectious disease nurse practitioners work across all health care settings to prevent, manage, and treat infectious diseases. They can serve as educators, health policy makers and advocates, direct care providers, or researchers.The position requires patient evaluations, injections, and other procedures. While treating the acute phase we are truly looking for the root cause. The population is mainly adults. As an advanced practice registered nurse, you’ll be our go-to person for ensuring the best patient care possible. The job description of a nurse practitioner includes conducting physical examinations, interpreting lab tests and overseeing patients’ health. You’ll be both a health practitioner and an educator, supporting disease prevention practices and helping people lead healthy lives.
SHIFT AND SCHEDULE
Monday-Friday 8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM and some on-call weekends.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- 2-3 years of experience
- Current unencumbered licensure and proper credentialing as a Physician assistant or Certified Nurse Practitioner in the State of Texas.
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS) preferred
- Must be registered with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for scheduled II-V Controlled Substances

Provides assessment, triage and therapeutic management of patient / family needs throughout the disease process, as an integral part of the interdisciplinary teamActs under the authority and supervision of the attending physician and in accordance with regulations, hospital policy, protocols and clinical pathways.Obtains medical histories, performs physical examinations, reviews / orders diagnostic tests and radiographic results, formulates and manages patient treatment plans and outcomes.Performs procedures, prescribes treatment and signs prescriptions in accordance with institution and state requirements.Screens physician calls to educate patient / family on care and resources.Makes rounds with interdisciplinary team.Formulates protocols and applies to practice.Administer drugs ordered by direct personal or voice communication by the authorizing physician who shall assume responsibility for the patient's welfare.Perform routine admission procedures.Participate and collaborate on clinical research protocols if applicable. Interviews patients and reviews the eligibility criteria to identify potential patients for protocol studies.Schedule and conduct follow up appointments.Interviews patients for symptoms, side-effects, toxicities, and determines their status pertaining to the protocols. Calculates drug doses when appropriate. Charts notes. Measures films to monitor disease response. Assesses toxicity, grade and makes handwritten entries onto flow sheet or database. Assures protocol compliance and assists physicians as necessary.Advance professional knowledge and conduct research.SKILLS
