Orange Coast College (OCC) is seeking equity-minded individuals for a classified employee role as a Public Safety Officer Senior under the Administrative Services Wing as part of the Campus Public Safety Department.

THE DEPARTMENT : About the OCC Public Safety Department
The Orange Coast College Campus Public Safety cultivates an accessible and inclusive community where all students have an equal opportunity to participate in all aspects of campus life. Qualified Campus Public Safety Officers demonstrate sensitivity to student needs promote student success through equal access and facilitate student learning and safety through partnerships with students faculty and staff. Campus Public Safety Officers and the campus safety department work closely with all students faculty staff and visitors to ensure a safe learning and business environment. The position also works closely with the swap meet operations team vendors and patrons of the swap meet. During the weekends numerous special events are occurring on campus that will require a security presence. Officers may be assigned to such special events and work closely with the OCC Facilities Rental and Maintenance and Operations staff.

Summary
Performs proactive security intervention law enforcement and public information duties that provide a safe environment for students staff and the public while on District or campus properties. Protects students and property by carrying out proactive programs and public safety processes enforcing the California Education Code and District policies and protocols.
Distinguishing Career Features
The Senior Public Safety Officer represents the second and senior-level career ladder for college campus safety student engagement and security. Incumbents are fully competent to perform all of the duties of the position and have received supplemental training to provide service. Senior Public Safety Officers require at least three years of experience as a Public Safety Officer advanced training and certifications and the ability to work with students in peer-level mediation direct student activities attend formal proceedings and organize and lead a team assigned to enhance safety and security on campuses.

(ON-CAMPUS - In-person position) This is a temporary special-funded full-time classified staff 40-hour per week 12-month per year position. The District reserves the right to extend modify or eliminate this position based upon available funds. The normal hours of work will be Wednesday through Sunday 11 : 00 pm to 7 : 00 am with the flexibility to occasionally work different evening and / or day hours and / or different weekend hours when necessary to meet the needs of the department. This will include a graveyard shift differential and a full-weekend shift differential for a 10% max total shift differential. The effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor. The District provides medical dental and vision insurance for the employee and eligible dependents and life insurance for the employee. (Salary Schedule : EE-115 10% max graveyard shift differential and weekend shift differential)
