The Role
The Senior Engineer will lead and participate in multiple team environments to all aspects of system integration including design, needs analysis, design review, testing, implementation, and validation. As a highly technical and hands-on position, the Senior Engineer will be responsible for systems in support of Lumen's Government and commercial services platforms addressing and critical infrastructure availability and protection missions. The Senior Engineer applies advanced engineering and network principles, theories, concepts and technologies to solve unusually complex problems and issues. Leads the development, evaluation and implementation of new and innovative principles, processes and applications.
The Main Responsibilities

- Ability to work during maintenance hours to assist in troubleshooting, upgrades, maintenance activities, and cutovers, with occasional work at Customer Site.
- Experience with Cisco platforms : Catalyst, NCS, or Nexxus (examples : 6800,5500 & 5700, 9000, 9300).
- Broad Knowledge of DNS and DHCP..
- Experience with designing and configuring Layer2 & Layer3 Cisco technologies including MPLS, VPN, and VRFs,
- QoS, spanning-tree, VTP, Trunking and VLANS.
- Excellent knowledge of current Networking protocols (BGP, IS IS, OSPF) and standards.
- Familiarity with Cisco IOS XE, IOS XR and Nexxus OS is desirable.
- Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, traffic flow, and data processing concepts.
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, consultative, written, and oral communication skills.
- Experience with Cisco and other networking Security products.
- Familiar with network and system monitoring tools such as Solarwinds and WhatsUp Gold.
- Experience with developing project plans a plus.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.
Location Based Pay Ranges
84,740 - $141,230 in these states : PA
93,210 - $155,350 in these states : DC MD VA
As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
