Job Summary and Qualifications Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act, with emphasis on the patient receiving invasive, diagnostic and interventional procedures. The Cath Lab Recovery RN will provide high quality care including :

• Evaluation of respiratory status, including pulse oximetry Use therapeutic communication in daily practice Maintain a safe environment Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care Participate in Cardiovascular Department specific initiatives and process improvement Promote a supportive environment Provide supervision of new employees, patient care assistant, vocational nurses, nurse technicians, student nurses and / or nurse externs
• Maintain high quality (age specific) care for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as assigned Support the mission, vision and values of the organization Provide conscious sedation to patients undergoing diagnostic procedures Monitor and intervene for patient during non-invasive studies, including trans-esophageal echocardiograms and cardioversion EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Three years critical care experience required, or telemetry preferred Current license by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas BLS—Healthcare provider, required, ACLS Provider course within one year Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas has been serving the Rio Grande Valley for more than 30 years.
