Summary

As a Child Life Specialist, you will plan, develop, and implement Child Life programming to address the psychological, emotional, and developmental needs of pediatric patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities :

• Coordinate, schedule, and supervise special events for inpatient pediatric areas.
• Collaborate with marketing and public affairs to facilitate media activities and corporate events.
• Develop strategies to alleviate the fear and anxiety children experience in healthcare environments.
• Utilize therapeutic play activities to prepare patients and families for procedures and treatment.
• Evaluate the developmental stages and emotional states of children to tailor support effectively.
• Assist patients and families in coping with the challenges of hospitalization, illness, and loss.
• Provide specialized services to meet the unique needs of individual children.
• Consult with healthcare team members regarding developmental and behavioral issues impacting patient care.
• Keep records on the delivery of Child Life services to demonstrate impact.
• Manage the budget and resources assigned to the Child Life department.
• Offer consultations for children visiting hospitalized patients to ensure their emotional needs are met.

Minimum Qualifications :

Physical Demands :

This role requires lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs and frequent standing / walking. Patient transporters may walk 8-10 miles per shift and must be capable of performing various physical activities, including kneeling, bending, and performing CPR.
