TAX SPECIALIST

The Tax Specialist is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely setup, maintenance, and management of tax accounts for consumers and employers in compliance with state and federal regulations. This role assists with processing tax documentation, responding to tax agency inquiries, and ensuring the proper filing and deposit of employment taxes. The Tax Specialist will work closely with internal teams and government agencies to resolve issues and ensure compliance.

Essential Duties

• Assist in preparing and submitting periodic payroll tax filings (e.g., 941, 940, state quarterly reports
• Support compliance with multi-state tax requirements, including local taxes
• Assist in the setup and maintenance of employer tax accounts with federal and state agencies
• Monitor and ensure timely filing and payment of tax liabilities
• Assist with preparation and reconciliation of year-end tax documents
• Review and respond to agency correspondence and notices
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date tax records in internal systems
• Support audits and research requests related to tax accounts.
• Track tax deposit schedules and assist in scheduling payments to avoid penalties
• Assist with process documentation and identify opportunities for improvements
• Communicate with federal and state tax agencies to resolve issues
• Research and resolve payroll tax discrepancies or variances
• Other duties as assigned

Education : Bachelor's degree preferred

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
