Job description

Primary Function : The Business Developer is responsible for leading growth initiatives by identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities within the commercial construction sector. This individual serves as a connector between the company, and the marketplace, ensuring that client needs are met with solutions that align with M. B. Kahn's capabilities and values. The role requires building strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, developers, and industry partners, while promoting the company's services and capabilities.

Responsibilities :

1. Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities in commercial construction, including private, public, negotiated, and design-build projects.

2. Develop and sustain long-term relationships with current and prospective clients, industry partners, and community stakeholders, cultivating trust and ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.

3. Continuously, research and analyze market trends, emerging opportunities, competitor activities, and upcoming projects to strategically position the company for success.

4. Represent the company at networking events, trade shows, professional associations and community functions to enhance brand visibility and generate new leads.

5. Collaborate with estimating, preconstruction, and operations teams to prepare proposals, presentations, and project bids.

6. Manage the full business development lifecycle, from lead generation to contract negotiation, project award, and client onboarding.

7. Maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities and provide regular updates to leadership on business development activities and results.

8. Collaborate closely with executive leadership and project teams to expand market presence and achieve revenue goals.

8. Assist in shaping marketing strategies, promotional materials, and client-facing materials to highlight the company's strengths, expertise, and differentiators.

9. Uphold the company's reputation for quality, safety, and client satisfaction in all business development efforts.

10. Complies with M. B. Kahn's Safety Program, OSHA guidelines, and Company policies, procedures, and standards.

11. Promotes integrity, honesty, hard work, safety, and quality throughout all aspects of the project and is a professional representative of M. B. Kahn.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client relations, ideally within the commercial construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, project delivery methods, and industry regulations.
  • Proven track record of securing projects and building long-term client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other business development tools.
