Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Garden City, Kansas (zip 67846)

Healthcare Setting : Medical / Surgical Unit

End Date : February 14, 2026

Contract Duration : 13 weeks

Nursing Shift : 12-hour day shifts (3x12 per week)

Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours / week

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $2030 - $2180

Floating : May float to other units or Centura healthcare locations within 60 miles if needed

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Kansas RN license or compact state nursing license

Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred

American Heart Association BLS certification

ACLS certification

NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Minimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg RN experience

Ability to float to other healthcare units or facilities as needed

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Assess and address patients’ physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs in a clinical setting

Develop and implement individualized patient care plans with the interdisciplinary healthcare team

Perform therapeutic and diagnostic interventions : IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, specimen collection

Advocate for patient health, safety, and rights in the medical / surgical unit

Educate patients and families, assess learning readiness, and evaluate teaching effectiveness

Deliver compassionate, relationship-based nursing care respecting patient preferences and values

Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel per hospital policy and Kansas state regulations

Serve as a professional role model and mentor for new staff or nursing students

Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and healthcare research activities

Maintain professional records and pursue ongoing learning to ensure nursing competency
