Provides health care services to patients under the oversight of a physician. Follows established standards, procedures, protocols, and practices, and gives specific patient care directions to nursing and other staff. This position requires the ability to assess, diagnosis, treat, care for, understand and react effectively to the unique needs of the patient population for whom services are provided. This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service to patients of the ages cared for in his / her practice setting.

PATIENT CARE

• Responsible for the medical management of assigned patient population including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, appropriate referral for care, and outcome evaluation.
• Performs physical examinations, conducts approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Secures health histories, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, records findings, makes critical assessment of patient needs and develops, reviews, and modifies treatment plans as required.
• Prescribes medications as allowed by pertinent Michigan regulatory agencies.
• Collaborates with consulting physicians and other members of the health care team.
• Maintains the continuum of care through the coordination and integration of all phases of patient care using physician orders, progress notes, and routine orders / best practice protocols
