Job Summary / Objective :
The Network Engineer III serves as a senior technical expert responsible for leading complex integration efforts, leading advanced drive testing, and ensuring compliance with national and carrier-specific standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining network reliability, optimizing performance, and supporting emergency systems such as e911. The Engineer III provides mentorship to junior engineers and collaborates cross-functionally to resolve high-impact network issues. The position requires a high level of technical expertise, leadership, and problem-solving ability to maintain and optimize network performance across diverse environments.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Lead the planning and execution of network integration, upgrades, and optimization projects.
- Serve as a technical escalation point for complex network infrastructure issues and outages.
- Provide expert-level support during integration services, software upgrades, and network optimization projects.
- Conduct in-depth audits and implement software updates to maintain site compliance with national and carrier-specific standards.
- Lead and execute advanced drive testing for major carriers, interpreting performance metrics such as signal strength, coverage, and throughput.
- Validate and troubleshoot e911 call functionality, ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network improvements.
- Document technical issues, resolutions, and best practices using internal systems.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and field technicians during integration and troubleshooting activities.
- Interface with IT teams, vendors, and third-party service providers to resolve escalated issues.
Minimum Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Network Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).4+ years of experience in wireless construction, network engineering, or RF systems.Advanced knowledge of wireless technologies, RAN systems, and carrier-specific platforms.Proficiency in Excel for data analysis, reporting, and performance tracking.Additional Eligibility Qualifications :
Demonstrated expertise in wireless construction, integration, and maintenance practices.Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor junior staff.Strong familiarity with e911 systems, including call routing and location tracking.Competency in troubleshooting both hardware and software network issues.Competencies Required :
Deep understanding of cellular networks, infrastructure, and operations.Advanced troubleshooting skills for resolving complex network issues.Ability to interpret and act on drive test data for network optimization.Strong communication skills for articulating technical concepts to diverse audiences.Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.Effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.High attention to detail and commitment to regulatory compliance.Strong time-management and prioritization skills in dynamic environments.Supervisory Responsibility :
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and field staff.
Work Environment / Physical Demands / Travel :
Standard office environment with regular field visits to network sites.Fieldwork may involve exposure to outdoor conditions and use of protective gear.Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds; frequent standing, bending, and climbing.Up to 50% travel required for site assessments, drive testing, and integration support.AAP / EEO Statement
