Position Details :

  • Location : Kent, WA
  • Duration : 10 / 13 / 25 to 06 / 17 / 26
  • Onsite / Virtual : Onsite
  • Position Type : Contract
  • Working Hours : 37.5 hours weekly, from Monday to Friday
  • Student Age Group : Float position, district wide

Responsibilities : Occupational Therapist

  • Advise, consult, and cooperate with the director of special education on all significant matters relating to assigned functions.
  • Collect past and current information relevant to the student's peripheral motor functioning, including prescriptions from physicians, reports from teachers, counselors, parents, and nurses, and results of developmental and motor functioning tests.
  • Summarize assessment results in writing, including procedures and instruments used, results obtained, and significance of findings as related to the student's instructional program.
  • Write instructional goals based on the assessment to work towards proposed goals.
  • Plan and implement an instructional program to assist the student in progressing toward the accomplishment of established goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate the student's progress toward the accomplishment of objectives and record performance measurements during the process and final results; identify causal factors accounting for significant differences between actual and predicted performance.
  • Develop regularly scheduled appointments for the instructional program.
  • Consult with teachers and other key personnel in areas related to students receiving instruction.
  • Plan work and efforts systematically to ensure the instructional program flows from goals to objectives; plan for certified occupational therapy assistants to implement instructional programs as appropriate.
  • Report to parents or legal guardians the student's measured performance as compared to established objectives.
  • Keep abreast of developments and improved techniques in the field and adopt those that will contribute to the improvement of the student's performance.
  • Contribute to the coordination of overall education efforts by cooperating with other professional personnel throughout the district.
  • Participate as a member of the special education team involved in the student’s total program.
  • Recommend suitable facilities, equipment, and materials to the director of special education to meet the needs of disabled students.
  • Qualifications : Occupational Therapist

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy or related field.
  • Washington State educational staff associate certification.
  • Washington State licensure as an occupational therapist.
  • Open to consider New Grads as well.
