  • Job Title : Operating Room (OR) Surgical First Assist – Travel Contract\n
  • Location : Leonardtown, Maryland 20650 (Maryland healthcare jobs)\n
  • Estimated Weekly Salary : $1700 - $1830\n
  • Contract Length : 13 weeks (Start : 11 / 24 / 2025 – End : 2 / 23 / 2026)\n
  • Shift : Day shifts, 3x12-hour (07 : 00 – 19 : 00), 36 hours / week\n
  • Call Requirement : 1-2 weekend shifts per contract\n
  • Setting : Acute Inpatient OR & Outpatient OR\n
  • Scrubs Provided \n
  • Unit Accepts First-Time Travelers (with required experience) \n

    • \n\nQualifications – Surgical First Assist Jobs in Maryland\n \n

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical First Assist in an OR setting\n
  • Active Maryland or compact state RN / FA license (Maryland nursing jobs)\n
  • BLS certification required\n
  • ACLS and NBSTSA certification preferred\n
  • Ability to provide two supervisor references\n
  • Experience with all patient age groups : neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatrics\n
  • Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)\n

    • \n\nResponsibilities – OR Surgical First Assist Travel Job\n \n

  • Assist surgeons during a wide range of surgical procedures : bariatrics, endo / laparoscopic, general, gynecologic, orthopedics (including total joints), plastics, robotics, urology, vascular, and more\n
  • Utilize advanced surgical skills : starting peripheral IVs, suturing all wound layers (including muscle and fascia), tying / ligating clamped vessels or tissues, wound dressing application (liquid or spray occlusive)\n
  • Operate and maintain specialized OR equipment : Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, case carts, crash carts, drills, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources / cords\n
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including radiology and rapid response\n
  • Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to infection control and isolation precautions\n
  • Support patient care for a daily census of approximately 28 across 5 OR rooms\n
