Unit Overview : Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit , where you'll care for a diverse and complex patient population, including :
Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuation, AVMs, and tumor resections.Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.Patients with hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program.This position offers exposure to the latest neurosurgical techniques and cutting-edge care through the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII).

Use the nursing process to assess patient needs, implement individualized interventions, and evaluate care effectiveness.Recognize changes in patient condition and collaborate with a healthcare team to address needs.Implement strategies to reduce patient risk and enhance safety.Coordinate patient discharge plans using an interdisciplinary approach.Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care experiences.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification by the American Heart Association (AHA).Education Required :
Completion of an accredited nursing program.Experience Required :
Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Ability to provide holistic patient care with a patient- and family-centered focus.Strong critical thinking and decision-making capabilities.Proficient computer skills and excellent communication abilities.Ability to collaborate and build positive relationships with patients and team members.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach, and twist frequently.Capacity to lift and carry varying weights as required.May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste; must wear protective equipment when necessary.Must possess functional speech, vision, hearing, and the ability to perform IV insertions and other related tasks.This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected.
