Job Description
This role is field-based and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience. This geography covers Chicago South, Western and Southern Suburbs.
Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, manage sales performance, effectively manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and develop customer‑needs‑solving capability to maximize short‑ and long‑term sales performance placing the patient at the center of all efforts, operating within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those objectives.
- Create pre‑call plans using SMART objectives and execute post‑call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance.
- Proactively serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted customer relationships and achieve win‑win agreements.
- Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, product, clinical and sales expertise, and share this market intelligence with the in‑field team, brand team, and sales manager.
- Differentiates AbbVie’s value proposition, identifies, develops, and maintains disease‑state experts and speakers / advocates.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business‑related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.Relevant industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree : at least five years of experience with at least three years within the pharmaceutical / health / science industry; high school diploma / GED required.Demonstrates in‑depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge and is recognized as an expert resource by all stakeholders; strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools; strategic and critical thinking; operates effectively in a matrix environment.Proven track record of sales success and solid presentation skills; adapts selling approach to customer style and behavior.Influences others, viewed as a credible role model and resource among peers; builds collaborative partnerships; leads by example; displays positive behaviors and peer coaching.Documented success in leadership and support roles with increased responsibility at district, region, and / or organizational levels.Preferred : Proven sales performance within therapeutic areas; commercial pharmaceutical industry experience such as physician / account‑based selling, training, managed health care or marketing; English proficiency.Must satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements; responsible for ensuring eligibility and maintaining credentials.Key Stakeholders
External : Specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other brand‑plan stakeholders.Internal : In‑field team members, sales management (e.g., DSM), marketing management, training, customer excellence, and brand‑plan stakeholders.Additional Information
The compensation range described is the possible base pay range that the company believes in good faith will be paid for this role at the posting time, based on the job grade. Individual compensation within this range will depend on geographic location, and may ultimately be higher or lower.We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical / dental / vision insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees.This job is eligible to participate in short‑term incentive programs.Note : No amount of pay is considered wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
