Job description

DCS Corp is seeking to hire a Network Engineer; Subject-Matter Expert to architect, secure, and operationalize the tactical and enterprise networks driving Major Release 2 (FY25–27) in Bedford, MA .

Your work will connect airborne nodes to the Digital Infrastructure (DI) and the broader DAF BATTLE NETWORK. Join the Air Force’s next-generation networking program—Phalanx Griffon (PG)—a modular, open-architecture aerial node delivering multi-level-secure data to warfighters in seconds.

Shift hours / schedules :

  • Onsite (plant or customer location)
  • Typical shift hours : 7 : 30am-4 : 30pm or 8 : 00am-5pm
  • Key Responsibilities :

    Architecture & Design

  • Lead development of PG’s network reference architecture across hardware (Nomad), software (Smith), and management (Watch) components.
  • Define routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS), QoS policies, crypto overlays, and cross-domain rulesets in line with NSA / DISA STIGs.
  • Generate SysML / CAMEO models to support the digital thread.
  • Integration & Lab Operations

  • Configure routers, switches, SATCOM modems, SDRs, and firewalls in the System Integration Lab (SIL).
  • Build automated test setups using IXIA, Spirent, Ansible to validate throughput, latency, and security posture.
  • DevSecOps & Cyber Hardening

  • Embed zero-trust controls and RMF artifacts (eMASS, ACAS, SCAP) into the DevSecOps pipeline.
  • Drive implementation of software-defined networking (SD-WAN, OpenFlow) for dynamic airborne-ground routing.
  • Flight Test & Fielding

  • Translate lab configurations into flight-ready builds; draft IATTs and airworthiness network annexes.
  • Support ops runbooks, help desk playbooks, and real-time dashboards (Elastic, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Leadership & Mentorship

  • Advise Government IPTs and brief network readiness and risk metrics.
  • Mentor mid-level engineers and enable long-term knowledge transfer.
  • Minimum Requirements :

  • Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Active TS / SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred) and 20+  years designing, integrating, and securing DoD or IC mission‑critical IP networks.
  • Deep expertise in routing / switching (Layer 2 / 3), SATCOM backhaul, RF / mesh networking, and transport enclaves in contested or bandwidth limited environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with cross domain solutions, NSA Type 1 crypto, and multi level security architectures.
  • Hands on with network test / validation tools and scripting / automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform).
  • Desired Qualifications :

  • CCNP / CCIE, JNCIE, or equivalent expert level certification.
  • Prior work on CJADC2, ABMS, OMS / UCI, tactical data links (Link 16 / 22, TTNT), or airborne networking programs.
  • Familiarity with containerized networking (CNI plugins, Service Mesh) and classified DevSecOps pipelines (Platform One, Iron Bank).
  • Experience shepherding RMF packages through eMASS to full ATO.
  • Agile / Scrum or SAFe certification.
