The Vehicle and Propulsion Controls organization (PVPC) is the “brain” of the Propulsion Systems division aimed at translating Performance and Functional Objectives into Controls features implemented in the embedded SW.

The PVPC organization scope spans the V development cycle with the following core missions :

  • translate system specifications and objectives into requirements
  • distribute control functions and networking strategies
  • implement core functions and diagnostics algorithm design
  • validate the functions to requirements

Within PVPC Organization the Controls Management Team acts as the main interface to the individual program ensuring that its needs are met.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Controls Manager in the technical management, global planning & execution and programs coordination of the Controls and SW platform solution for Engines or Transmissions or Hybrid or Battery or Charging or eMotor Electronic Control Units

As Controls Integration Engineer responsibilities include but not limited to :

  • Collect and deploy the high-level requirements with the key stakeholders (Systems, Architecture, Network, Controls & Software and Validation teams)
  • Coordinate Controls feature development by tracking the technical deliverables, supporting the technical discussions and change management approvals
  • Act as Technical lead for controls testing, supporting the test cases and tracking the validation results
  • Coordinate Controls technical troubleshooting by leading the issue resolution, managing and tracking all technical open points at program level
  • Develop a detailed technical project timing and risk assessments assisting the Controls Managers
  • Requirements :

  • As you will be working on Complex Systems, it is essential the successful candidate can show a proven record of working on his / her own initiative and within a team delivering high quality and robust technical solutions
  • Bachelor / Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of years of engineering experience ( years in automotive)
  • Ability to work in an Agile environment
  • Previous experience as Controls / SW developer, testing or calibration engineer will be considered a plus
  • Fluent English
  • Be proactive, take ownership and be accountable

    Communication – reporting, tracking, and communicating are key skills for this role. The role is responsible for coordinating and communicating between many diverse groups within STLA – all with competing priority.

    Tenacity / holistic thinking – This role has to think outside of the prescribed tasks, and challenge themselves and other groups to think full-picture on the impact of issues and controls features. Always remember that Done! Is at a vehicle functional level, not when one group considers their scope of responsibility as completed.

  • How many years of experience are you looking for (if different than the job description) : Same as job description is fine. I’m more interested in attitude than experience.
  • o Onsite - %-This is only considered as an on-site role. % at CTC. Infrequent travel to proving grounds and assembly plants is expected. <% of time.

    Does this position require driving a Client vehicle? (Examples : Testing / Driving on a Track / Moving vehicle throughout the facility / Moving vehicle to another plant location) - Yes, engineer will be required to drive and participate in in-vehicle testing and development activities. Both on-track and on-road.

    Amount of travel, (if so, where) : <%. Travel in SE Michigan to support proving grounds, and local assembly plants when necessary.
