Role Overview :
The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) will implement specialized treatment plans designed to assist patients facing physical, cognitive, sensory, and social / emotional challenges by providing in-home and community-based occupational therapy.
Key Responsibilities :
Deliver high-quality care tailored to meet the unique needs of patients and their families by implementing prescribed occupational therapy treatment plans under the guidance of the supervising occupational therapist.Support pediatric and young adult patients in key developmental areas including physical, neurological, cognitive, sensory, feeding, activities of daily living (ADLs), and social / emotional skills to enhance their independence through engaging interventions.Educate and empower caregivers and family members, equipping them with the skills needed to integrate therapeutic activities into the child's everyday life.Ensure continuity of care post-discharge by designing and instructing patients and families on home exercise programs to uphold therapeutic gains.Accurately document patient care services and coordination in a user-friendly electronic medical record system.Safeguard patient confidentiality by managing information with discretion.Qualifications :
Current state licensing as an occupational therapy assistant is required.Prior experience in an occupational therapy setting is preferred.CPR certification.Excellent customer service skills paired with a positive attitude.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Effective time management capabilities.The ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
