JOB PURPOSE : Performs Digital Radiographic procedures that demonstrate high quality images on all patient types. Performs the requested Radiographic exams on the correct patient and selects the proper technical settings for each individual patient.
The primary goal of the El Rio Health Radiology Technologist is to support El Rio's Mission of providing comprehensive, quality health care that is affordable and accessible to all who may have healthcare needs, by successfully performing the primary essential functions.
Essential Job Functions :
- Performs radiographic procedures as per written Providers' orders.
- Utilizes proper patient shielding at all times without exception.
- Reviews completed images for diagnostic accuracy.
- Identifies needed adjustments for repeated images to ensure a quality diagnostic image.
- Provides a work environment safe and free from hazards; immediately address or inform management of safety issues or potential hazards; adhere to Health and Safety Policies and Procedures; participate in all safety programs, which may include assignment to an emergency response team.
- Ensures the correct patient is examined by using three patient identifiers including name, date of birth and reason for visit.
- Enters correct patient information into various computer programs to aid identification of the patient's exam.
- Rotates through other El Rio clinic sites to maintain familiarity with different x-ray units.
- Maintains a clean, neat professional work environment.
- Maintains exceptional level of customer service; address and resolve complaints; serve as an example by providing excellent service to internal and external customers, employees and patients. Demonstrate and model El Rio Behavioral Standards in all interactions with patients, co-workers, and visitors.
- Demonstrates service excellence with AIDET principles consistently applied with all patients, community members, co-workers and colleagues.
- Reviews job description and performance goals with department manager annually.
- Initiates phone calls to Providers and nursing staff to clarify patient orders.
- Greets all customers in a friendly, professional manner.
- Explains procedures to patients in order to reduce anxiety and improve patient's outcomes.
- Embraces and promotes a professional working environment based on understanding and respect for diversity and multi-culturalism in all of its forms; demonstrates sensitivity, acknowledges varied beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, and customs, and encourages communication and appreciation of all forms of diversity.
- Works in collaboration with the providers and nursing staff to achieve the expectations of the Radiology Department.
- Provides group tours on the various radiology services available at various El Rio clinics.
- Participates in various cancer activities scheduled throughout the year.
- Consistently completes work on time without reliance on overtime.
- Provides correct billing information (CPT codes, ICD-9 codes).
- Matches the exam with the provider order.
- Completes / closes all exams in order to send correct billing information to the Business Office.
- Maintains professional radiology society memberships and stays in good standing.
- Learns new computer programs as they become available.
- Implements new computer programs into daily workflow as to assure quality patient care.
- Contributes to team effort; and complies with all facility policies and procedures including but not limited to those addressing HIPAA and Compliance and performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment in compliance with all Policies and Procedures including but not limited to work areas, workstations, examination rooms, hand washing, infection prevention and control etc. for this position.
- Demonstrates an understanding of and proficiency with the application of all compliance and reporting requirements respective to Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards.
Minimum Education and Experience :
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.)Graduate from Accredited School of X-Ray Technology.Currently registered with the State of Arizona with the Medical Radiologic Board of Examiners.One (1) year experience in a radiology department in a hospital or clinic setting.If applicable, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations :
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers.Level I fingerprint clearance card : current valid and in good standing or have applied for it within seven working days after beginning employment.American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) Certificate.Employees in this position may be required to have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday. If an employee is driving during work hours, the employee is required to possess a valid driver's license and must comply with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements.Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities :

El Rio Health requires all employees to have a Level One Fingerprint Clearance card. A.R.S. 36.425.03. If the prospective employee does not possess this prior to hire, fingerprint application must be completed within 7 days post hire. Level One (1) Non-IVP Fingerprint Clearance card must be received within 30 days after applying for the fingerprint card.
