RN - ICU

ICU Unit Details

• Beds : 6
• Ratios : 1 : 3 - Depending on acuity
• Required Certifications : ACLS, BLS
• Common diagnoses / Types of patients : No cardiac intervention. Sepsis, elderly, COPD, CHF, suicide, drug overdose, a fib RVR, etc.
• Experience : At least 1 year in the specialty.
• Floating Requirements : Possible float to Acute Care (full or partial assignment) (a 12-bed unit, may take a full assignment of 5-6 patients on night shift) or possible float to ER (tasking and may do 1 : 1 as well).
• Are there Tele / Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? : Responsible for monitoring, reading, and interpretating their own strips when in home unit of ICU and if / when floated to Acute Care Unit. Client & Phillips monitors.
• Are RNs required to titrate drips? : Yes
• Common titratable & / or set rate drips : Sedation (Propofol, etc.), pressors (Levo, Norepi, Dopamine), paralytics (rare), Insulin, Cardizem, etc.
