Responsibilities Work in a hospital Pediatrics unit caring for patients with a variety of pediatric diagnoses Patient diagnoses include prematurity, apnea of prematurity (AOP), retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), bronchopulmonary dysplasia / chronic lung disease (BLD / CLD), cardiac defects, feeding issues, and neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) Patient ratios are 1 : 3, with up to 4 patients when acuity is lower Specialized equipment includes trachs, vents, PICCs / central lines, and administration of TPN / IL Alternating day (7 : 00–19 : 00) and night (19 : 30–7 : 30) 12-hour shifts Required to work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled Floating is required within specialty and sister units as needed No on-call responsibilities Responsibilities include managing pediatric trach / vent patients, central lines, and specialized TPN / IL therapies Travelers are first to float when unit patient census requires First-time travelers are welcome to apply Holiday coverage is required as assigned Block scheduling or schedule restrictions cannot be guaranteed Return travelers must have a 6-month gap from prior assignment at this health system Former staff must be separated from the system for 12 months to be eligible Most contracts allow for one extension before a 6-month break is required Dress code and orientation modules will be discussed during onboarding Requirements Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of consideration Minimum of 2 years recent pediatric RN experience required Experience with pediatric trach and vent patients required Current BLS certification (AHA only) required CPI certification required, Calm Every Storm version accepted ACLS preferred, PALS and NRP certifications accepted (AHA or AAP for NRP) Two satisfactory professional references from recent employers required, including one supervisor / manager and one charge RN Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the hospital Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-634729.
