North Suffolk is looking for an Assistant Program Coordinator to join our team! The Assistant Program Coordinator of the Recovery Learning Center (RLC) community at the Hope Center for North Suffolk and the wider Metro Boston Recovery Learning Community (MBRLC). This position is designated for a person who is or has been a recipient of services for mental health and / or substance abuse disorders. The Assistant Program Coordinator reports to the Hope Center Director and supports the team where needed, and is a contributing team member of the larger peer support specialist network at North Suffolk.
This position is a part-time position of 20 hours per week.
What you'll do :
- Organize, lead, and co-facilitate groups to engage community members, as well as individual and group activities that promote social experiences, increase community connection, and provide opportunities to practice skills and receive feedback and support from a peer-inclusive environment.
- Provides guidance and supervision to Peer Facilitators at the Hope Center with regard to their role as group facilitators and one-on-one peer supporters. Acts as a mentor to other Peer Support Specialists throughout the agency and as an educator to others who seek to learn the role of a peer support specialist.
- Effectively advocates for people with mental health and / or substance use disorders and plays a leadership role in helping others understand the need for people to independently make informed choices regarding their own recovery.
- Promotes the use of natural supports within the neighborhood and community of the Hope Center and in the North Suffolk community.
- Assists Program Coordinator with overall design and implementation of all contract requirements
What you’ll need : - Education :
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in a social sciences related program preferred
Experience :Has work experience with adults who identify as having a mental health and / or substance use disorder or with individuals with similar human-services needs
This individual should be a current or former recipient of mental health services who is in recovery.Strong critical thinking abilities and experience with technology and document management, and interpersonal communications.Skills :CPR / 1st Aid Certification within three months of hire (training provided). Peer specialist certification in Massachusetts preferred, or willingness to be certified within 6 months
