Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night ICU Overflow position requiring a compact or OH RN license and strong critical care skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a high-acuity ICU Overflow Unit, flexing between a 24-36 bed capacity
  • Care for neuro, cardiac, postsurgical, PCU, MS / Tele, or ICU patients as needed
  • Float to other levels of care required based on unit needs
  • Utilize equipment such as Alaris pumps, ventilators, CPAP BiPap, pressors, IABP, EVD, ICP, TVP, CRRT, Impella, SWAN, and ECMO
  • 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Provider coverage includes intensivist, mid-levels, residents, rapid response team, resource RN, and house supervisor available 24 / 7
  • Uses Epic EMR (experience preferred)
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and use of advanced life-support modalities
  • Expected to function in a fast-paced, adaptable team with strong interdisciplinary support
  • Must be flexible to accommodate shift scheduling preferences when possible, with self-scheduling available after initial period
  • Holiday and every other weekend coverage required

    • Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
  • Successful completion of dysrhythmia (EKG) exam on first day, with study guide provided and two attempts allowed
  • Willingness to work with various patient populations within critical care settings
