Responsibilities

  • Serve as the academic liaison to health sciences departments, including Public Health, Communication Disorders and others based on interest and background. This includes providing course-integrated instruction, collection development activities, and engaging with faculty and students.
  • Create, deliver, and evaluate instructional and consultative services related to health sciences resources, evidence-based practice, and evidence synthesis that advance research, teaching, and learning. This includes creating instructional materials, teaching workshops, and consulting with scholars on medical databases, clinical research methods, and biomedical literature.
  • Work collaboratively to develop, manage, and evaluate the print and electronic collections in the assigned disciplines.
  • Provide research services related to conducting evidence synthesis and literature reviews for researchers in the health sciences.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to keep abreast of trends in librarianship for health sciences and other assigned disciplines. Contribute to the library profession through research, publication, and participation in professional organizations.
  • Participate in library-wide committees as needed to support the strategic goals of the Libraries.

Qualifications

Graduate degree in a STEM discipline and / or ALA-accredited degree in library / information science.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise using resources in the health sciences fields including databases, journals, and preprints.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work flexibly and effectively in groups.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the data and information needs of science and health researchers.
  • Experience conducting or familiarity with the methodologies of evidence syntheses projects such as systematic and scoping reviews in the health sciences.
  • One year or more of professional working experience in a research library or other academic setting.

    Florida State University Libraries seeks a highly collaborative and service-minded individual as a Health Sciences Librarian.

    The incumbent will work collaboratively across library divisions to provide programs and services that support the research, teaching and learning needs of FSU scholars. They will also be responsible for building partnerships and providing academic support for Public Health and Communication Disorders as well as other academic departments based on academic background and interests.

    This position is a member of the STEM team, a dynamic and service-oriented group that supports and partners with STEM faculty and students to meet their teaching, learning and research needs. The STEM team is part of the Research and Learning Services (RLS) division. This position reports to the Program Director of STEM.

    Anticipated Salary Range

    Starting salary of $60,000, commensurate with education and experience.
