Rang Healthcare is seeking a travel RDN - Registered Dietitian Nutritionist for a travel job in Moses Lake, Washington.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting all aspects of in-patient nutritional screening and assessment. Instructs inpatients and outpatients on diets as requested. Teaches nutrition classes and diet in-services to staff as needed. Is responsible for the nutritional care of inpatients identified at nutritional risk. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of Nutrition Services along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provides support for patients with food preferences, helps with proper menu selections.
2. Provides educational support regarding special diets by making educational material available for patients on special diets.
3. Utilizes Nutrition Care Practice Guidelines for inpatients.
4. Conducts nutrition assessments on patients within the timeframes outlined in the Nutrition Assessment Standard Operating Procedure.
5. Modifies patient's menus, as necessary, and is available to Nutrition Services staff for diet clarifications.
6. Updates and / or writes new diet handouts as needed.
7. Conducts diet in-services to Nutrition Services staff, as requested.
8. Records all pertinent nutritional information in the medical chart (calorie counts totals, nutrition assessments, summary of teaching, etc.).
9. Helps train and orient new Diet Technicians and Dietitians using the appropriate orientation checklist.
10. Is a resource for community service nutrition talks and nutrition questions from the general public.
11. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
12. Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to : security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
13. Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
14. Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values.
15. Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
16. Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
a. Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Foods.
a. Previous experience in dietetics, one-year clinical dietitian experience preferred.
b. Previous experience in EPIC EMR, one-year preferred
a. Current Certified Dietitian status for Washington State.
a. Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics registration or RD eligible.
b. Current Washington State Food Handlers permit.
c. Basic Life Support Heartsaver (HS) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.
a. Knowledge of foods / nutrition; food preparation, production, supervisory / instructional techniques.
b. Basic Life Support Heartsaver (HS) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.
c. Demonstrates competency on equipment listed on department-specific checklist.
d. Critical thinking skills : Seeks resources for direction, when necessary. Performs independent problem solving. Decision-making is logical and deliberate.
e. Performs actions that demonstrate accountability. Exercises safe judgment in decision-making. Practices within legal and ethical guidelines.
f. Demonstrates competency in ability to care for customers / patients across the age continuum.
