About the role

To support the realisation of our purpose statement, “Landgate supports the sustainable economic, social and environmental management and development of land in Western Australia […]”, a formal ESG initiative was introduced within Landgate’s strategic plan for 2023 / 2024. With this being a key area of focus for Landgate’s Board, executive team and business, this role provides an exciting opportunity for someone looking to play a pivotal role in the future of Landgate.

As Landgate’s ESG consultant, you will be responsible for establishing and leading the function to support the achievement of ESG outcomes for the State, our customers and the community. A key focus of this role will be to work closely with our Board and executive team to define Landgate’s role through an ESG strategy and progress initiatives to support the achievement ESG outcomes for Western Australia.

Here are some other things you will get to do in this role to help make a meaningful impact and shape a more sustainable future :

  • Develop and implement ESG frameworks, policies, procedures, as well as a roadmap for establishing a robust ESG function.
  • Monitor the external environment to identify emerging trends, best practise and regulations. This includes consideration for the WA government ESG commitments, as well as the impact of international agreements and goals.
  • Effectively manage dialogue with key senior internal and external stakeholders to provide visibility of progress, updates and advice. This includes regular engagement with Landgate’s Board and executive team.
  • Work closely with Landgate’s operational teams and key roles to support, implement and communicate environmental and sustainability initiatives. This includes liaising with key stakeholders through the ESG working group to determine the appropriate avenue for gaining cross business support and delivery of initiatives.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders from across the State and Local government sectors to explore and progress opportunities to better leverage land information to support the achievement of ESG outcomes for Western Australia.
  • Oversees the design and preparation of appropriate reporting mechanisms, as well as data collection, analysis, and reporting programs to track progress against Landgate’s ESG targets.

This role is established for an initial 12 months to define and develop Landgate's ESG function. With this being a key focus area for Landgate, there may also be ongoing employment opportunities in the future.

Landgate has flexible working arrangements and are supporters of a hybrid model of working from home and the office. Our headquarters is our office, which is currently undergoing an exciting wholesale refurbishment to be completed this financial year. Public transport is close, with plenty of parking available nearby. You may also have the option to work at our Perth office on some of the days, located on St Georges Terrace, by agreement with your manager.

  • Demonstrated experience in an ESG related field, with knowledge of ESG regulations, principles, frameworks, standards and trends.
  • Expertise in strategy development and business planning to facilitate developing Landgate’s ESG strategy and associated action plan.
  • Experience managing projects to facilitate the successful implementation of initiatives and actions within established timelines.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and leverage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, think critically and adapt to a fast paced and evolving environment.
