License : Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)

Must-Have : ARRT certification in one of the following : Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI), Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI), Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV)
Description :
Under the direction of a Radiologist, specializes in the performance of invasive procedures to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician.
Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination.
Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary.
Prepares prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration to patients.
Reviews clinical data on requisition, analyzes anatomical structures of the patient, sets up equipment, and assists the Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic invasive procedures.
Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment required for the procedure.
Ensures adequate supplies such as needles and catheters are on hand and properly stored.
Replenishes supplies as appropriate.
Actively assesses patient conditions before, during, and after all procedures.
Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information for the areas of the body being studied.
May assist with the training of new personnel or students assigned to the division.
Performs all imaging procedures while demonstrating the principles of radiation protection.
Resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery.
Completes all study indexing in the Radiology Information System, including study begin, end, and completion.
Demonstrates Team Member Standards of Excellence including open communication, a positive attitude, and fostering innovation.
Performs Quality Assurance procedures as appropriate.
Documents in the medical record and within the radiology information system to support clinical functions.
Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.
