Responsibilities

Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our dynamic team in Clinical Laboratory Services. This position plays a crucial role in providing accurate and timely diagnostic testing to support patient care across various hospitals.

Perform a wide range of laboratory tests in multiple disciplines including :

  • Hematology : Complete blood counts coagulation studies blood bank procedures
  • Chemistry : Electrolytes enzymes hormones drug levels
  • Microbiology : Bacterial culture and identification antimicrobial susceptibility testing
  • Immunology : Autoantibody testing serological markers
  • Urinalysis and Body Fluids : Microscopic examination chemical analysis
  • Molecular Diagnostics : PCR testing genetic analysis
  • Operate and maintain complex laboratory equipment including analyzers microscopes and automated systems
  • Ensure proper specimen handling processing and analysis
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed
  • Adhere to strict quality control procedures and safety protocols
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance activities and proficiency testing
  • Collaborate effectively with other laboratory personnel physicians and nurses
  • Assist with training and mentoring of new staff members
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of experience in an acute care facility required.
  • Required training in Hematology Chemistry Blood Bank Microbiology Immunology and Serology as applicable.
  • B.A. / B.S. required
  • Windows Operating System.
  • Knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel is helpful.
  • California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License or Limited California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License California Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License California Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License are required and ASCP registry preferred
  • Current Los Angeles County fire card is required.
  • For direct patient care AHA BLS certification is required for CLS drawing blood donors only.
