Our mission is to provide actionable insights and drive research for industry-based, professional, and workforce credentials, addressing a significant data gap. CredLens offers tailored data analytics and visualizations to credential issuers, workforce training providers, philanthropic funders, and state systems to improve credential quality and inform funding decisions. Role Overview As an Engineering Team Lead, you will take on a player-coach role, leading a team of engineers dedicated to our innovative non-degree credential data platform. You will mentor your team, contribute to development using our core tech stack : Python, Flask, React (Next.js), and PostgreSQL on AWS, and work closely with senior leadership on feature prioritization and software releases. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor a small team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture. Participate in the design, development, and deployment of our platform's frontend and backend using React (Next.js) and Python / Flask. Partner with Product Management to define, estimate, and prioritize work based on end-user value and business impact. Provide technical guidance and promote best practices within your team. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, and conduct code reviews. Collaborate with UX / UI designers, engineers, and product managers to ensure seamless user experiences. Implement security best practices, leveraging AWS Cognito for identity management. Review and develop architectural paradigms in partnership with the CTO. Build comprehensive unit and integration tests, ensuring quality assurance. Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies. Qualifications and Experience 8+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years in full-stack roles. Proven leadership in managing small engineering teams, including hiring and performance management. Strong proficiency in React (Typescript, Next.js) or Python (Flask), with good knowledge of the other. Experience with RESTful APIs, OAuth, OIDC, PostgreSQL, and SQLAlchemy. Familiarity with AWS services, Git, and cloud infrastructure. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Preferred Skills AWS IaC using Python CDK, Docker, additional AWS services (Cognito, ECS, EKS, Redshift, Lambda). Experience with CI / CD pipelines, Jira, Confluence, Slack, Figma. Background in data visualization, startup or non-profit environments, and accessible design (WCAG 2.1+). Additional Information Salary range : $155,000 - $167,500 annually, plus bonus. Hybrid work model with at least 2 days / week in the DC office.
