Job description

Job Summary

Our client seeks a Financial Counselor (Customer Services Representative) to support the reduction of Accounts Receivables for the Patient Financial Services department. The primary responsibility includes assisting patients directly with their bills or other financial aspects of their care, handling correspondence, billing and re-billing, addressing certain denial issues, and managing Accounts Receivable credits while monitoring trends. This role involves determining liability on patient accounts and providing financial assistance or securing payment. Additionally, it includes processing Medicaid and other financial assistance applications and initiating eligibility determination for the Health System's charity care fund.

Key Responsibilities

Support maximization of collection of balances due or account resolution from all sources. Meet Quality and Productivity expectations.

Facilitate account resolution by accurately identifying, following up on, or correcting billing errors, lower than expected reimbursements, or denials for correction or resubmission to patients and / or insurance carriers.

Identify, research, and resolve any issues that may cause delays in payment or account resolution in a timely manner.

Work collaboratively with peers across teams and revenue cycle departments.

Qualifications

HS diploma.

Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred (Please indicate on application / resume).

Experience

1-2 years of experience in healthcare insurance billing or account follow-up.

Strong knowledge of Patient Accounting systems.

Prior experience with Medicaid and Charity Care preferred.

Skills

Strong customer service skills.

Ability to work in a team environment requiring quick turnaround and quality output.

Additional Requirements

Full-time position with rotating holidays required.

3-4 weeks of onsite training required.

Equipment provided for remote work : laptop, two monitors, a keyboard, and a mouse.
