This Marine Mechanic perform mechanical maintenance and maintenance training to assist shipboard personnel in the operation, maintenance, and repair of specific items of engineering systems / equipment onboard USN Surface Ships.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Perform mechanical maintenance and maintenance training to assist shipboard personnel in the operation, maintenance, and repair of specific items of engineering systems / equipment onboard USN Surface Ships.

Master understanding of production and processes.

Responsible for interfacing with customers and ability to provide work direction to others.

May manage one or more multiple jobs.

Complete comprehension of specialty trade functions and tools. Perform a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.

Develops and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.

Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. May perform quality inspections on finished product.

Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignments.

Must have experience as a shipboard marine mechanical trades specialty with 6 or more years of shipboard maintenance and repair experience.

Must be able to read and interpret equipment and systems ship drawings and ship technical documents and manuals.

Must be competent in the use of mechanical equipment and tools in corrective repair efforts in order to accomplish ship repairs.

Troubleshoot and diagnose complex technical issues related to equipment and systems.

Plan, schedule, and execute maintenance and repair tasks on equipment and systems to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.

Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment to identify potential issues and address them proactively.

Collaborate with engineers and technicians to develop and implement technical solutions and improvements.

Assist in the installation, calibration, and testing of new equipment and systems.

Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair tasks performed, as well as equipment performance data.

Train and mentor junior technicians on technical procedures, safety protocols, and best practices.

Stay up-to-date with advancements in technology and industry standards to continuously enhance technical knowledge and skills.

Participate in cross-functional teams to provide technical expertise and support for various projects.

Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards in all engineering activities.

Required Skills :

Experience in operations, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment onboard USN surface.

Strong technical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and concepts.

Proficient in using a variety of tools, equipment, and software used in engineering and technical tasks.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve complex technical issues.

Strong organizational and time-management skills to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.

Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in equipment calibration and maintenance activities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess and evaluate technical data and make informed decisions.

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic work setting.

Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to adhere to safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

Proficient in record-keeping and documentation practices to maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.

Required Qualifications :

High school diploma or equivalent.

An associates / bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field is preferred.

Proven experience as a Senior Mechanical Engineering Technician or in a similar role.

Certification in a relevant engineering discipline is a plus.

Knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to engineering and equipment maintenance.

Ability to lift heavy equipment and perform physical tasks as required.

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. xklufbp
